Ensuring comfortable conditions is one of the important areas of designing and equipping shelters. In the event of a man-made hazard or bombing, fresh and clean air must be supplied to the shelter. Modern filter and ventilation systems (FVCs) are able to cope with such tasks.

Modern shelters must provide protection against the negative effects of bombing, as well as a number of poisonous substances and biological threats. For this purpose, they are equipped with filter and ventilation systems.

The FVC is a sophisticated piece of equipment that must ensure the supply of breathable air to the interior of the shelter. Depending on the configuration and design, the complex can operate in the first or second mode:

  • Ventilation (Mode I). In this case, air is taken from the street. Depending on the parameters of the external flow, it can be additionally cleaned from dust and smoke particles (clean ventilation). If there is a threat of a chemical attack, it is necessary to pass the air through filters that can absorb biological aerosols and toxic substances (filter ventilation). Protection against radioactive dust can also be provided;
  • Regeneration (Mode II). It is used when it is impossible to use purified outside air. The system draws air from the inner space of the shelter. Then the air flow passes through special filters (absorbers). Their purpose is to remove excess carbon dioxide. The set humidity and temperature levels can also be monitored and maintained.

The efficiency of cleaning and the autonomy of the filter and ventilation system depends on the specifics of the equipment selection. Therefore, it is important to take a responsible attitude to this point.

FEC parameters for protective structures

Having understood what a FSC is, you need to understand how to select the right equipment. The most important is the internal volume of the shelter and the number of people who can stay in it at the same time. The performance of the complex is selected according to these parameters. Moreover, depending on the filters used in the installation, possible operating modes, you should pay attention to the indicators for clean ventilation, filter ventilation and regeneration.

The systems can also be additionally equipped:

  • Climate systems. Their task is to control and maintain comfortable temperature and humidity conditions. Depending on the set parameters, they will heat or cool the air flow that has passed through the filter system. The relative humidity can also be adjusted;
  • Own power supply. Its task is to ensure autonomous operation when the storage is disconnected from the external network and there is no connection to the generator.

As you have already understood, modern filter ventilation systems (FVCs) are essential systems in the design, construction and arrangement of shelters, shelters and other protection facilities. FVCs must ensure the supply of high-quality air to the shelter, cleaning the air flow from pollutants, toxic, and hazardous components. Their performance and additional functions may vary depending on the type of shelter and the number of people it can accommodate.

The specialists of the Selton plant manufacture reliable and efficient filter and ventilation systems.  As a developer and sole manufacturer of ventilation and air regeneration systems for shelters, our company can offer the creation of individual projects that take into account your needs and wishes.
